FXVA HerStory Women’s History Campaign
Visit Fairfax, the Destination Marketing Office for Fairfax, Virginia, tasked us with creating a standout campaign to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the 19th Amendment—a landmark moment that granted women the right to vote and amplified their voices in society.
Our mission was to raise awareness of the fearless women who made history right here in Fairfax County and to highlight how their legacy continues to inspire the next generation of changemakers.
There are powerful lessons from women’s history that resonate with kids today—standing up for what’s right, fighting for change, and empowering others. To bring this message to life, I collaborated with the creative director on a campaign that centered around interviewing tweens and teens about their thoughts on the Suffrage movement, its impact on today’s world, and how they aspire to shape the future. We paired their voices and portraits with historical counterparts from Fairfax County’s past, drawing a compelling connection between yesterday’s trailblazers and today’s youth—a concept we called HerStory.
HerStory was a social media campaign designed to educate, inspire, and drive engagement. I spearheaded the design and art direction entirely, crafting a bold visual identity, a seamless fusion of heritage and contemporary design, that blended black-and-white historical imagery with a striking pink palette, symbolizing the bridge between past and present. This hands-on approach ensured that every creative element—from social media graphics to an interactive Facebook experience—was meticulously designed to connect audiences with the campaign’s message and drive traffic to Fairfax’s and Washington, D.C.’s museums, memorials, and historic sites celebrating women's achievements.
